If you’re trying to snag an eco-friendly mattress for your bedroom, you may want to consider the Botanical Bliss mattress from PlushBeds. Built with organic latex, this mattress aims to be as good for your sleep hygiene as it is for the environment. Plush Beds Singapore
But how well does it live up to this mission? That’s what I’m here to learn, by putting it through a series of rigorous tests to figure out its feel, the way that it sleeps and whether it could be the mattress of your dreams.
Continue reading below for my full review of the PlushBeds Botanical Bliss mattress.
The Botanical Bliss is built with three 3″ layers of organic Dunlop Latex.
Unlike Talalay Latex, which frequently has a light and airy feel, Dunlop is dense and makes for a firmer structure.
Here, all the three Dunlop segments is categorized as either Soft, Medium or Firm, and can be arranged in whatever order best suits the sleeper.
In accordance with PlushBeds, there are a total of six distinct firmnesses for each mattress, with a split firmness option available for King and Cal King sizes.
Worried you won’t be able to determine how to configure the layers to your liking? No sweat! The brand offers a set of graphics on its site detailing all the various ways to orient the latex sections.
Plus, if you’re still not happy with the feel, PlushBeds is happy to throw in an additional Firm layer of latex to get more support.
For the purpose of my review, I will be looking at the Botanical Bliss in the”Soft” orientation, which has the Soft layer on top, the Medium layer in the middle and the Firm section as the base.
But enough talk! Let’s dive into this lavish latex mattress and see what is going on inside.
Cover: made out of organic wool and cotton, the cover is soft and provides the sleeper with a few satisfying comfort.
Latex Layers: As I mentioned up top, the following few sections are comprised of 100% organic Dunlop Latex.
This material is compact and has a fast response to pressure, creating a bed that’s incredibly bouncy. Compared to memory foam, latex doesn’t feature much if any contouring, so you are not likely to feel stuck in the mattress.
One more thing you’re most likely to notice with latex is that it sleeps cool, so could be an excellent option for those who tend to sleep hot during the night.
As far as the texture in this specific configuration is concerned, placing the Soft layer up top allows for some first deep sinkage to the mattress, which is buffered marginally by the Moderate latex section as the sleeper transitions into the Firm base under.
The Botanical Bliss‘ structure is also noteworthy because it is a 100% certified organic mattress, which means all its materials have been accredited by the Global Organic Latex Standard and the International Organic Textile Standard.
Additionally, the mattress is also GREENGUARD Gold Certified, ensuring that the mattress has fulfilled some of the world’s most rigorous and comprehensive standards for low emissions of volatile organic compounds into indoor air. Plush Beds Singapore
After taking a look at the construction of the Botanical Bliss, let us talk about the firmness and feel.
I started off by applying light hand pressure to the mattress and discovered I was immediately interacting with the soft wool cover.
Pressing in farther, I encountered the buoyant lift of the latex layers, which propelled me up and out of the structure.
Since folks of different sizes, weights and shapes are going to feel firmness differently, I decided to bring in three other testers to help me figure out just how firm the Botanical Bliss is.
We all took a turn lying on the plush organic mattress, gave it a private firmness score and then compiled them on the graph below.
While feel is always likely to be a single thing, this will hopefully give you a good sense of the firmness range you can expect from this bed.
Aside from one outlier, we were mostly in agreement about the firmness of the Botanical Bliss, landing on an average rating of 5.4.
In comparison to the industry standard of 6.5 for medium firmness, it appears as though this bed is really soft.
I personally gave the mattress a 5. While the bounce of the latex is very likely to keep you positioned on top of the bed, the material is surprisingly gentle, allowing for some pretty deep sinkage throughout the mattress.
Keep in mind that we’re only looking at the bed in its”Medium” orientation and that changing around the layers could make it either firmer or softer.
For more specific, the Botanical Bliss Moderate provides a firmness range from 5-7 using soft, medium and firm layers of latex.
The Botanical Bliss Firm runs from 7-9 and only utilizes medium, firm and extra firm latex. These different sections can be moved around to create 6 unique configurations, representing a subtle gradient within the prescribed range.
So if we swapped around the layers in our bed to have a firm layer up top, a medium transition segment and a soft base, we’d end up with a bed which had a firmness of about 7.
As I mentioned up top, instructions on how to orient the layers in your individual Botanical Bliss are available on the brand’s website.
Another important component of texture is pressure, or more specifically where pressure points might kind while lying on top of a brand new bed.
Instead of merely describing where these tension spots might crop up, I thought I’d provide you a visual representation rather. To do this, I placed a pressure map in addition to the mattress and lied on my back, side, and stomach.
You can see the effects on the picture below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back: Lying on my back, I could really feel myself sinking into the bed, with the soft layer of latex foam working to fill in the space at my lumbar region.
Even for all this sinkage, the responsiveness of the latex made it effortless for me to roll around and change positions.
Edge Support: Scooting as close to the side as I could, I noticed some profound compression through the top layers.
While I did not feel as though I’d roll out of bed, I would not say this mattress had especially solid edge support.
Side: Since side sleepers have a tendency to enjoy softer mattresses, I wasn’t surprised to discover that I felt lots of great pressure relief in this position.
As you can see in the graphic above, I didn’t notice any strain in my shoulders or hips, typical problem areas for those who doze primarily on their sides.
Stomach: And lastly, after I rolled on my stomach, I started to feel a little distress as the soft nature of the bed caused my hips to sink out of alignment with my shoulders.
Stomach sleepers tend to prefer firm beds since they help keep the spine in a nice, even line, so those who sleep solely on their stomachs might want to opt for a firmer configuration of the Botanical Bliss. Plush Beds Singapore
Plan on sharing your bed with a partner? Well then, you will want to keep a tight eye trained on its motion move, or the quantity of disturbance likely to be felt from one side of the bed to the other.
Essentially, this test will let you know just how bothered you will be by your bed partner’s movements in the night.
To illustrate this, I dropped a 10 pounds. Steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and measured the disturbance it caused: the bigger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
FYI: Each fall is meant to symbolize a different movement you are likely to encounter in bed, from tossing and turning (4″) to getting out of bed (8″) all the way to full on jumping (12″).
For those people who aren’t fans of latex, this interfering bounce is one of the most common complaints related to the substance and can be viewed in additional all-latex beds, like the Zenhaven.
When purchasing a new bed, most individuals want to know whether they’ll feel like they’re sinking”into” the mattress or lying”on top” of it.
To exemplify this sinkage, I put four balls of varying sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 pound steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball and a 100 pound medicine ball) on the mattress and quantified how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, density and weight are supposed to simulate different body parts and different sized sleepers.
6 lb medicine ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
10 lb steel ball: 2.5 inches of sinkage.
50 pound medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
100 lb medicine ball: 6.5 inches of sinkage.
These results are really interesting because while the rebound of the latex certainly helps to combat any sort of stuck-in-the-bed atmosphere, the mattress itself features an extraordinary amount of sinkage.
While not the same as contouring, which refers to the sort of cushiony pressure relief you might get in the shoulders and buttocks from a memory foam mattress like the Tempurpedic, the sinkage nonetheless contributes to the Botanical Bliss’ overall soft texture.

IS THE PLUSH BEDS MATTRESS RIGHT FOR YOU?
Now that we have taken a closer look at the Botanical Bliss mattress, I want to highlight some of its greatest pros and cons:
One of my favorite things about this mattress is how bouncy it’s , which could be an attractive feature for those of you looking for buoyant support.
Another significant pro is that the Botanical Bliss sleeps cool. The all-natural latex is excellent at temperature regulation, ensuring that you won’t overheat at night.
And lastly, a huge selling point is the organic building . From the natural wool in the cover to the Dunlop Latex layers, this bad boy is wholly green.
As we discussed above, this mattress did not have amazing motion transfer results, which means that you’re likely to be disturbed by movements in the night.
Another factor to bear in mind is that you are not going to experience a lot of contour here, among the most frequent complaints about latex that could be a deal breaker for those of you in need of deep pressure relief. Plush Beds Singapore
The PlushBeds Botanical Bliss mattress is a good mattress overall. With very superior comfort, support, bounce, and cooling, it is tough to look past this 100% latex mattress. An organic cotton cover improves airflow and rounds out a healthy outer covering. Additionally, there is a 1″ layer of 100 percent Joma wool underneath the cover which does a great job of enhancing breathablity of the mattress as well as absorbing moisture. This helps sleepers keep a cool body temperature during sleep. All in all, the PlushBeds mattress is a wonderful latex mattress that provides an quality level of support in all sleeping positions together with terrific cooling and a rounded hug / body contour.
