But how well does it live up to this assignment? That’s what I am here to find out, by putting it through a series of rigorous tests to figure out its feel, the way that it sleeps and whether it could be the mattress of your dreams.
Continue reading below for my full review of this PlushBeds Botanical Bliss mattress.
The Botanical Bliss is built with three 3″ layers of natural Dunlop Latex.
Unlike Talalay Latex, which frequently has a light and airy texture, Dunlop is dense and makes for a firmer structure.
Here, all the three Dunlop sections is categorized as either Soft, Medium or Firm, and can be arranged in whatever order best suits the sleeper.
In accordance with PlushBeds, there are a total of six distinct firmnesses for every mattress, with a split firmness option available for King and Cal King sizes.
Worried you won’t be able to figure out how to configure the layers to your liking? No sweat! The brand offers a set of graphics on its website detailing all the various ways to orient the latex segments.
Additionally, if you’re still not happy with the feel, PlushBeds is pleased to throw in an extra Firm layer of latex to get more support.
For the purpose of my review, I’ll be looking at the Botanical Bliss at the”Soft” orientation, which has the Soft layer on top, the Medium layer in the middle and the Firm section as the base.
But enough talk! Let’s dive into this lavish latex mattress and see what’s going on inside.
Cover: Made with organic cotton and wool, the cover is soft and provides the sleeper with some satisfying comfort.
Latex Layers: As I mentioned up top, the next few sections are comprised of 100% all-natural Dunlop Latex.
This substance is dense and has a fast response to pressure, creating a bed that is incredibly bouncy. Compared to memory foam, latex does not feature much if any contouring, so you are unlikely to feel stuck in the mattress.
Another thing you’re most likely to notice with latex is that it sleeps cool, so could be a fantastic option for those who tend to sleep hot during the night.
So far as the texture in this specific configuration is concerned, placing the Soft layer up top allows for some initial deep sinkage to the mattress, which is buffered slightly by the Medium latex segment as the sleeper transitions into the Firm base below.
The Botanical Bliss‘ construction is also noteworthy because it is a 100% certified organic mattress, which means all of its materials have been licensed by the Global Organic Latex Standard and the International Organic Textile Standard.
Additionally, the bed is also GREENGUARD Gold Certified, ensuring that the mattress has met some of the world’s most rigorous and comprehensive standards for low emissions of volatile organic compounds into indoor air. Plushbeds Store Locator
After having a look at the building of this Botanical Bliss, let us talk about the firmness and texture.
I started off by applying light hand pressure to the mattress and discovered that I was immediately interacting with the soft wool cover.
Pressing in further, I struck the buoyant lift of the latex layers, which propelled me up and out of the structure.
Since folks of different sizes, shapes and weights will feel firmness differently, I decided to bring in three other testers to help me figure out how firm the Botanical Bliss is.
We each took a turn lying about the plush organic mattress, gave it a personal firmness rating and then compiled them on the chart below.
While feel is always going to be an individual thing, this will hopefully give you a good sense of the firmness range you can expect from this bed.
Aside from one outlier, we were largely in agreement about the firmness of the Botanical Bliss, landing an average rating of 5.4.
In comparison to the industry standard of 6.5 for medium firmness, it seems like this bed is pretty soft.
Personally, I gave the mattress a 5. While the bounce of the latex is likely to keep you positioned on top of the bed, the material is surprisingly gentle, allowing for a few pretty deep sinkage throughout the mattress.
Keep in mind that we are only looking at the mattress in its”Moderate” orientation and that shifting around the layers could make it firmer or softer.
To get more specific, the Botanical Bliss Moderate provides a firmness range from 5-7 using gentle, medium and firm layers of latex.
The Botanical Bliss Firm runs from 7-9 and only utilizes medium, firm and extra firm latex. These different sections can be moved around to make 6 unique configurations, representing a subtle gradient within the prescribed range.
So if we swapped across the layers in our bed to have a firm layer up top, a medium transition segment and a soft foundation, we’d wind up with a bed which had a firmness of about 7.
As I mentioned up top, instructions on the best way best to orient the layers on your individual Botanical Bliss are available on the brand’s website.
Another important component of feel is pressure, or more especially where pressure points might form while lying on top of a brand new bed.
Instead of merely describing where these tension spots might crop up, I thought I’d give you a visual representation rather. To do this, I put a pressure map on top of the mattress and lied on my backside, and stomach.
You can see the results on the picture below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back: Lying on my back, I could really feel myself sinking into the bed, with the soft layer of latex foam working to fill in the space at my lumbar region.
Even for all this sinkage, the responsiveness of the latex made it effortless for me to roll around and change positions.
Edge Support: Scooting as close to the side as I could, I detected some profound compression through the top layers.
While I did not feel as though I’d roll out of bed, I would not say this mattress had especially good edge support.
Side: Since side sleepers have a tendency to like softer mattresses, I wasn’t surprised to discover that I felt a lot of fantastic pressure relief in this position.
As you can see in the picture above, I didn’t notice any tension at my shoulders or hips, typical problem areas for people who doze primarily on their own sides.
Stomach: And lastly, once I rolled on my stomach, I started to feel a bit of discomfort as the soft nature of the bed caused my hips to sink out of alignment with my shoulders.
Stomach sleepers have a tendency to prefer firm beds as they help keep the spine in a nice, even line, so those who sleep solely on their stomachs might want to decide on a firmer configuration of the Botanical Bliss. Plushbeds Store Locator
Plan on sharing your bed with a spouse ? Well then, you’ll want to keep a tight eye trained on its motion move, or the quantity of disturbance likely to be felt from 1 side of the bed to another.
Basically, this test will inform you just how bothered you will be by your bed mate’s movements in the evening.
To illustrate this, I dropped a 10 pounds. Steel ball from peaks of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and quantified the disturbance it caused: the bigger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
FYI: Each drop is meant to symbolize another movement you’re likely to experience in bed, from tossing and turning (4″) to getting out of bed (8″) all the way to complete on jumping (12″).
For those people who aren’t lovers of latex, this interfering bounce is one of the most common complaints associated with the substance and can be seen in other all-latex beds, like the Zenhaven.
When buying a new bed, most individuals want to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking”into” the mattress or lying”on top” of it.
To exemplify this sinkage, I put four balls of varying sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball and a 100 pound medicine ball) on the mattress and quantified how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, weight and density are supposed to simulate different body parts and different sized sleepers.
6 lb medicine ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
10 lb steel ball: 2.5 inches of sinkage.
50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
100 pound medicine ball: 6.5 inches of sinkage.
These results are really interesting because while the rebound of the latex certainly helps to combat any type of stuck-in-the-bed feeling, the mattress itself features an extraordinary amount of sinkage.
While not the same as contouring, which refers to this sort of cushiony pressure relief you may get in the shoulders and hips from a memory foam mattress like the Tempurpedic, the sinkage nonetheless contributes to the Botanical Bliss’ overall soft feel.
Sleep Trial: 100 days.
Warranty: 25 years.

IS THE PLUSH BEDS MATTRESS BEST FOR YOU?
Now that we’ve taken a closer look at the Botanical Bliss mattress, I want to highlight some of its greatest pros and cons:
One of my favourite things about this mattress is the way bouncy it is, which could be an attractive feature for those of you looking for buoyant support.
Another significant pro is that the Botanical Bliss sleeps cool. The organic latex is excellent at temperature regulation, ensuring that you won’t overheat at night.
And lastly, a big selling point is the organic construction. From the organic wool in the cover to the Dunlop Latex layers, this bad boy is wholly green.
As we mentioned above, this mattress did not have amazing motion transfer results, meaning you’re likely to be disturbed by movements in the evening.
Another factor to bear in mind is that you are not going to encounter a good deal of contour here, among the most frequent complaints about latex that could be a deal breaker for those of you needing deep pressure relief. Plushbeds Store Locator
The PlushBeds Botanical Bliss mattress is a fantastic mattress overall. With very good comfort, support, bounce, and cooling, it’s hard to look past this 100% latex mattress. An organic cotton cover enhances airflow and rounds out a healthy outer covering. Additionally, there’s a 1″ coating of 100% Joma wool underneath the cover that does a great job of improving breathablity of the mattress as well as absorbing moisture. This helps sleepers keep a cool body temperature during sleep. Overall, the PlushBeds mattress is a wonderful latex mattress that provides an high quality level of support in all sleeping positions together with terrific cooling and a rounded hug / body contour.
